Summary of key responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, the Capacity Development Advisor (SALW) is specifically responsible for:
Supporting the implementation of the SALW (Small Arms and Light Weapons) action plan
Stakeholder Coordination and Relationship Building
Strategic Policy, Advice, and Advocacy
You may find more information at
Master’s degree or equivalent with 7 years of relevant experience; or
Bachelor’s degree with 9 years of relevant experience; or
Military Experience (or relevant Police Experience) at the Senior NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer) or Officer level (or equivalent) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
Relevant experience is defined as experience in advisory and coordination roles in either emergency or post conflict environments. This is required.
Experience in institutional or military advisor roles in fragile states is required;
Experience in SALW, SSR and National Commission on SALW is required;
Knowledge of the International instrument and conventions on SALW is desired;
Knowledge of the UN system and procedures is desired.
- Fluency in French and English (speaking, writing and reading) is required.
