Job Description
Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the anticipated $10 to $24.99 million USAID Pre-Service Education Training in Jordan (PRESTIJ) project. PRESTIJ will equip Jordanian universities to train all potential future teachers to enter classrooms with content knowledge, a range of pedagogical skills, and the capacity to reflect productively on their practices. The project will do so by ensuring that participating universities successfully implement pre-service modules and that male and female students subscribe to them; by supporting improvements in Jordanian government systems, policies, and practices related to pre-service teacher education; and by assisting selected universities in positioning themselves to deliver diverse models of high-quality pre-service teacher education. Responsibilities include:
- Provide project leadership, management, and technical direction to ensure that all activities and partners achieve the project’s expected results
- Identify issues and risks related to project implementation in a timely manner, suggesting appropriate program adjustments
- Ensure the project meets high-quality performance and integrity standards that comply with Chemonics and USAID policies and regulations
- Apply adaptive management strategies and lead learning activities to support staff and counterparts to continually refine interventions and maximize impact
- Serve as the primary liaison between PRESTIJ and USAID, government counterparts, other implementing partners, and local partners
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in education or a related field required; Ph.D. or Ed.D. preferred
- Minimum of five years of experience as a chief of party for projects of similar scope and value
- Experience designing, implementing, and managing large teacher training education projects
- Verifiable experience fostering a cohesive, collaborative, and welcoming work environment
- Experience in the Middle East and North Africa region preferred
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in English required; proficiency in Arabic preferred
