We are looking for a Head of Safeguarding at a pivotal time of transition and change for the organisation.

What you’ll be doing:

In this role, you will lead a well organised investigations team. You will ensure prompt pick up of new cases and that appropriate activities are taken with investigative work to determine appropriate actions. This role will oversee key performance indicators and Service Level Agreements as well as building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation to facilitate effective collaboration. You will grow and nurture the investigations team aiming to continually improve the service. Learnings will be used to implement improvements training and support to reduce safeguarding incidences to an absolute minimum through a holistic approach, across the whole organisation and Working alongside the Charity Commission and the SaFePal team to embed learnings and knowledge across Oxfam and the Sector.

  • A self-aware leader who makes a positive impact on others
  • Wide ranging experience in managing and leading safeguarding teams.
  • Experience managing performance of others and helping people to develop, grow and achieve their potential, including increasing diversity and inclusion in teams and / or workplaces
  • Experience of collaborating with senior stakeholders to agree resolutions to safeguarding investigations
  • Experience managing a team with a high caseload and demanding workload. Subject matter knowledge and experience of international safeguarding matters, and the investigation of it.
  • Experience of the INGO sector/humanitarian and/or global development work, and/or working in the developing world.
