Logistics Emergency Officer

Location: Moorgate, London

Hours per week: 35 per week

Salary: Circa GBP 28,000 per annum, pro rata (including London weighting)

The British Red Cross are recruiting an Emergency Logistics Officer within our international directorate. This is an exciting opening for a logistician experienced in managing procurement and storage of relief goods and providing logistics expertise to support international relief responses!

As part of this role, working in our London office, you will support the preparedness and deployment of rapid response materials to sudden onset disasters, engaging with the Red Cross Movement's network of national and international stockholding partners. As a member of the Logistics unit, you will collaborate with the emergency response teams to mobilize relevant stocks for relief operations and manage needs definition, sourcing, order placement and delivery of relief goods to designated storage place. You will manage the prepositioned stock ahead of mobilisation and will be the focal point for deployment of stock to emergency relief operations.

As an Emergency Logistics Officer, you will be technically responsible for supporting BRC's intended 24/7/365 availability of the Emergency Response Units and will have the opportunity to shape BRC's prepositioned stock strategy through collating, analysing and monitoring supply chain data. You will also play a key role in optimizing supply chain processes to support BRC's preparedness, including procurement, warehousing and transporting processes, engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.

We're looking for someone with formal logistics qualifications (or equivalent experience), strong procurement skills and demonstrable experience working in logistics in international emergency responses.

They will be willing to work out of office hours when necessary and be able to travel up to 90 days per year and work in situations of political insecurity.

Please note that while not a requirement, it is expected of this role that the successful candidate will join our International Logistics Emergency Response Unit (ERU). This will involve an intensive training programme and once trained the commitment to be on a register for a full calendar year, with a maximum of four 4-week deployments in the year.
