Job Summary

Job Description

The Caribbean was badly hit by hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017. Amongst the affected countries were a number of British Overseas Territories (Anguilla, British Virgin Islands and Turks and Caicos Islands) where the British Red Cross has Overseas Branches.

As humanitarian auxiliaries to their respective governments, these Branches have had a significant role to play and contribution to the national relief and recovery effort.

The Caribbean Resilience Programme is ongoing in the region and as part of this programme, stocks were positioned in the branches in preparedness for any future hurricanes. Branch capacity and systems need to be strengthened to ensure these stocks are organised and managed appropriately to ensure that they can be effective in case of a response. Existing logistics tasks need to be mapped and set of minimum standards have been established which need to be implemented.

The successful candidate will ensure that logistics functions in the Overseas Branches are carried out appropriately and that logistics preparedness functions in regard to hurricane preparedness are in place.

The candidate will have:

  • excellent relationship management and communication skills
  • Strong remote relationship building and management skills
  • Skills in training and developing staff capacity
  • Strong project management and coordination skills

This is an excellent opportunity to work with multiple Red Cross branches in the Caribbean as well as the wider Directorate to help ensure the effective delivery of BRCs programme work in the region.

We appreciate the efforts each individual makes to keep our organisation running smoothly and efficiently.
As a result, we offer a wide range of staff benefits.

These include:

  • 36 days holiday (including bank holidays)
  • Up to 6% contributory pension
  • Monthly per diem allowance
