Job Description

Chemonics seeks a smallholder-based supply chain component lead for the five-year Feed the Future Bangladesh Agricultural Growth Activity. This $10 to 25 million activity will be closely linked with other Feed the Future activities. The activity’s purpose is to increase the effective management of Bangladeshi businesses in private sector agriculture while increasing business engagements at the farmer level. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the smallholder supply chain component, including supervising regional offices
  • Develop strategies for integrating smallholder producers into formal supply chains
  • Oversee interventions aimed at improving the capacity of smallholder producer groups and farmer associations to work with buyers
  • Work to develop strong relationships between input supply service providers and smallholder producers
  • Develop strategies for improving private sector-led extension services to smallholder producers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, crop science, horticulture, plant or soil science, or another relevant field
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience working in a private sector agribusiness or extension service delivery on an agricultural development project
  • Experience in increasing the capacity of smallholder producers to participate in commercial supply chains
  • Knowledge of Good Agricultural Practices and setting up applied research demonstration trials
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging the private sector to develop inclusive and efficient supply chains
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain internal and external relationships with stakeholders, partners, and staff
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluent written and spoken English required
